Merry Early Christmas!

So I know it's been a while. That break up with Winter was hard.

I've been working diligently on finishing up the trim in the hallway but I've decided to wait till it's completely done to post. I've just got to finish painting the doors and then you can see.

It's also good it took this long because I was kinda dreading taking apart the living room while the tree was up. Ours will be coming down on either Sunday or Monday. Hopefully I'll be finished with the doors by New Year's and then begin my tackle of the living room.

So being in the Christmas spirit I say Merry Christmas and wanted to show you something. Every stinkin' year I can't figure out what to do with the Christmas cards we receive. We have no where good to display them from. This year I've got to say I came up with my best idea yet.

Since my tree is fiber optic the light source isn't hot hence not a fire hazard. So I stuck the cards in the tree. Festive and hides the fact hat I have few ornaments, double woot!

So now I bid you adieu and a Merry Christmas since I won't be doing much painting between now and Sunday.

Now for good measure I leave you with this cute picture of Leah wearing my boots.

Winter

Hi Winter.

It's me, Virginia.

I hate to do this but I've got to, I can't go on like this any longer. This relationship isn't working out; I'm breaking up with you.

It's not you, it's me.

…OK...I lied it is you.

The give and take in this relationship isn't working for me.

You give me; snow storms, freezing rain, black ice and frozen pipes. Oh, and let’s not forget all the colds you give my family and the mice you drive into my house.

And you take, oh how you take!

You take; the warmth, days with the windows open, and my ability to wear flip flops Every. Single. Day. You take our barbeques and days at the beach. Not to mention taking away the sunshine at 4 o' freaking clock every day.

Sure you also give us the lovely holiday times of Thanksgiving and Christmas, the occasional nice snow to play in and you do take away my allergies for a while but really it's not a fair trade off. Come on, the Australian’s seem super happy to be able to wear a bikini at the beach on Christmas. Is that too much to ask for?

So as you can see it’s just not going to work out between us.

I understand due to your not so great relationship with your Mother Nature, you won’t be able to move out until some time in mid March but maybe we could keep up a warm friendship until then.

Not so much love,
Virginia

More Christmas Trees

Yesterday the kids and I went to my parents house and helped them decorate the tree.

My parents Christmas tree is one of those great trees that is covered in ornaments my brother and I have made over the years. I snapped a few pictures of some but didn't get many, we ate dinner then I left pretty quickly because Leah was feeling sick.

Blast from the past: Me in 1989 age 3

Other great ones of mine that are on the tree that I didn't get pictures of include, a fabulous white foam ornament glued in an ice cream cone with sprinkles glued on circa either 1989 when the above was also made or 1990 and  felt mouse with original candy cane tail I made in 1993

My brother has some great ones too. I didn't get any pictures of ones he made in his young years but I did get two that I have always liked that he made somewhere around the age of 12 or so.
Kinda hard to see and looks like a light bulb, but it's a severed head. lol

Mr, Hanky the Christmas Poo a la South Park.

This last one was purchased, I don't know when or where or by who (though I'm assuming my mother) but I have always loved it.
It's a cutie pants little pink doll house. Complete with mini Christmas tree

Also regarding my poll the other day. I'm going with the darker color. It was my original choice so yay! I'll get it in a few days. The weather is supposed to go back to being cruddy tomorrow so I don't know if I'll make it to Lowe's before then.

The Choice

Apparently Mother Nature has forgotten that this is Tennessee and that we live at the bottom of a freaking hole in the middle of it.

So yes, it is snowing.

The only reason there is any gap in that snow pictured is because of our over hang from our back door which extends to the black rod/post things and the circular one is where a bucket was. It's also very very windy, so windy I had to deadbolt the back door because it blew open. There's also a lovely snow drift against the back door that keeps building up and getting knocked in my house because of the wind.

Now I need something from you guys.

I am torn between two different colors for my trim, I went to get it and had it all decided the when I got to the store I wasn't quite sure so I got two of those little sample canisters they give you.

So here is a nifty poll. Which one do you like?

Any other opinions feel free to comment or facebook it.

The Face of Innocence

This is the face of innocence.

Adorable isn't he?

While he is amazingly adorable and sweet something about him is not. They are the evil little enamel covered bone like substances call teeth. They have not made their debut yet but we've been dealing with them for weeks now; he chews, he drools, he's grumpy. Mommy is getting grumpy too.

Leah teethed like a dream. Minimal drool, a little bit of chewing, no grumpiness. She got two bottom ones at once and then a month or so later got all four top and the remaining two front bottoms. It was great.

Obviously this time we will not be experiences the happy form of teething.

Christmas Tree Success

Well Louie passed the Christmas tree test, or the Christmas tree passed the Louie test... whatever. Because it made it all the way to Friday with out any crashing or branch smushing we decorated it yesterday. Leah did most of the decorating, as you can see.  We also learned that our hooks were missing so I only had enough to hang like seven ornaments.
So today we ventured to the store to get ornament hooks and a new star because our old one doesn't work on this tree. I also picked up some new ornaments while we were there. Along with finally buying the light bulbs for the hallway and getting the wrong size air filter so now I have to go back and return that.

Note the giant blue & silver ornament Leah picked out next to her

So now as long as Louie can keep away from the ornaments we will be keeping a Christmas tree this year.

Today I think I found the perfect trim color, at least on the paint chip thing it is. I'm gonna go get one of those little sample cans to make sure I love it too. Yay! Almost done with the hallway.
